Public bug reported: The Update manager opens automatically when I'm using other applications. It's very annoying to have to close the window every time I log in. The pop-up window steals the input, which is very annoying if you're typing something. It can also makes the computer seem like it have locked up. If I for example have a full screen game open, it suddenly loses all input because the update manager window pop-ed up in the background. The game still has control of the screen, so the game seems to be locked up, even though it isn't.
The automatic pop-up was a change of the default setting from 8.10 to 9.04 and should be changed back again. It can manually be fixed by using the following command: $ gconftool -s –type bool /apps/update-notifier/auto_launch false ** Affects: update-manager Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: behaviour default ** Also affects: update-manager Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Update manager opens automatically at times in Ubuntu 9.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/390283 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
