Public bug reported:

If Ubuntu gets corrupted (on its own or as a result of the installation
of some "not so good" software), it's nice to be able to quickly fall
back to the known "working state" of the system, without needing to
restore it from an existing (or, often, non-existing) backup.

This is usually achieved by periodically creating (automatically as well
as manually) "checkpoints" with snapshots of the working states of the
system. We should have this feature in Ubuntu. Windows XP has it.
