Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: llvm

llvm is used by the OpenJDK zero runtime to provide a JIT compiler
(shark) for architectures unsupported by the hotspot JIT included with
OpenJDK. Currently this improves performance on powerpc, the ix86
architectures (which have a hotspot port) and armel.

llvm-dev is only used as a build dependency, it's not directly used by
any other package in main. The upstream project is live, Debian usually
has good support. The Ubuntu package currently is using a version from
the trunk to be used by OpenJDK.

It's good enough to provide a faster JVM on some architectures.

** Affects: llvm (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
