I got a work-around by creating a custom DSDT file following this awesome howto [1] and thanks to 67GTA's kind help. It'll help to boot the laptop on battery only, until the package that was broken from HH to JJ (or the kernel) gets fixed. If you have an HP DV6646us laptop, here's the DSDT file attached. Otherwise follow the howto.
