Dan Chen just pointed me to Debian's equivalent of "needs-packaging" and
it appears that back when this software was being developed, it only
half-worked and would break software (like Evolution) if schemas weren't
setup for every single key.  Being two years since it was last worked
on, those issues obviously haven't been resolved, and I wouldn't be
surprised if new incompatibilities crept up in recent versions of GNOME.
