I confirm the same problem, Vino-server takes 90% of CPU. I am using Ubuntu 8.04 with all the updates (up to this time, June 2009). After all this time of using this version of Ubuntu (8.04) it is for the first time when all of the sudden, without trying to use it, the vino-server jumps up and takes all the CPU power. The only way of shutting it off is to go to System/Preferences/Remote Desktop and disable it from the Share check box and kill it after (otherwise it respawns itself).
