This bug does not currently exist in karmic so it can be closed. I'm currently working on another bug with CD Live on the same processor where the processor crashes. Launchpad bug #385947.
Your instructions only work if the processor is still running. They don't work if the processor has in fact crashed and stopped. There isn't any '.crash' file in /var/crash when the processor crashes and stops. The crash report can only be generated if the processor can still run. Thanks for looking at this bug report.
