nhandler, I checked the above mentioned patch, and it does not include a fix for the /bin/sh /bin/bash problem in varkon.sh. However there is a discussion going on in debian-devel about transitioning to dash. I am a bit behind in reading my debian-devel ml emails but catching up. IMHO I think in karmic+1 the debian dash transition should be well under way if not complete and we would be able to drop this change and eliminate the delta.
With debian transitioning to dash would it still make sense to file a bug upstream? It may be wise to put this merge on hold until almost FF and see where debian is at in their transition to dash.
