I am experiencing similar behavior to what ethanay reported. Specifically, when I mute via the keyboard's mute button (pretty standard Dell keyboard with a few media buttons on it), then wait a few seconds or more before unmuting, the unmute is successful but the volume has changed from its original level to 0% and I have to turn it all the way back up. This does *not* happen if I mute and then immediately unmute via the same key.
Possibly related, when I click MUTE on the gnome app panel's volume icon (set to Master), nothing happens. If I move the volume slider on that same volume control, it works fine. I'll follow Jiri's lead on what info to provide. Of course it's always OK to contact me for more info ... lspci | grep Audio 00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02) uname -a Linux goat 2.6.28-13-generic #45-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jun 30 19:49:51 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux cat /etc/issue Ubuntu 9.04 \n \l dpkg -l | grep volume-manager [nothing returned] lsmod | grep snd | head -1 snd_cmipci 42016 5 -- Volume is turned down after muting https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/45711 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
