I confirm the bug in Gwenview 2.3.0, KDE 4.2.95, installed from Kubuntu Backports PPA in Kubuntu 9.04. It is perfectly reproducible every time.
Moreover, when opening the LAST file in a folder, both the "Previous" and the "Next" buttons are activated. While "Previous" functions as expected, clicking on "Next" does nothing.
