I don't think this is a specific problem of the package "adept".

For me this happens with certain programs (I think all of them are non-
GTK+), like Open Office and VLC Media Player, that take a while to load.
When I double click a document or video file to open with these programs
I get no visual feedback whatsoever. Normally when I open a file I get
(at least) feedback in the form of a mouse cursor animation.

This results in people opening files twice, because they think the first
time didn't work. I have seen this happen to several people. They double
click a file, wait a second or so, see no feedback, so they double click
it again. Resulting in opening the file twice.

I guess the solution would be to always show the "wait cursor" animation
whenever any file or program is opened.
