Public bug reported: I burned a copy of the Jaunty LiveCD (ubuntu-9.04-desktop-i386.iso) using Knoppix 6.0.1. The CD validates in Knoppix using the following command:
md5sum -c md5sum.txt | grep -vi 'OK$' The CD also validates using the same command in Windows 2000 using Cygwin. However, when I boot into Intrepid and run the same command, I get the following error message: md5sum: ./casper/filesystem.squashfs: Input/output error ./casper/filesystem.squashfs: FAILED open or read When I boot the LiveCD and select the "Check disc for defects" option, I get an error as well ("Errors found in 1 file"). It seems to me that Intrepid/Jaunty are unable to read the CD properly, despite it being a properly burned CD. My CD drive is the Lite-On LH- 20A1H. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: boot livecd md5 validation -- LiveCD "Check disc for defects" test fails despite valid disc https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/398284 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
