Public bug reported: I have added "processor.max_cstate=3" to my default grub options, in order to try and fix the issue described here:
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_with_high_pitch_noises After first boot, everything works fine, and /proc/acpi/processor/CPU0/power and /proc/acpi/processor/CPU1/power both report max_cstate: 3. But after hibernating and resuming, they report max_cstate: 8 and my thinkpad X60 starts whining again. d...@dave-laptop:~$ uname -a Linux dave-laptop 2.6.28-13-generic #45-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jun 30 19:49:51 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux d...@dave-laptop:~$ cat /proc/version_signature Ubuntu 2.6.28-13.45-generic ** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- max_cstate kernel option not preserved after hibernate/resume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399352 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
