Yes, the machine being upgraded had NFS mounts.

Apart from the error message and a bit of retrying everything seems to
have upgraded properly. Is there a way I can check whether the mythtv-
common post-installation script has run successfully?

Other than that as far as I am concerned this is no longer an issue and
doesn't need to be kept open unless you want to do something to address
it. I cannot imagine why the NFS mounts caused the local machine upgrade
to fail. But it seems to have been a minor and transient issue.
