gnome-panel hangs on me very regularly (every few days).  I'm running
Ubuntu 9.04 (whatever crazy name that is).

If you need more info to help debug this, let me know what to do to
provide it for you!

P.S.  I've moved the panel bars to the left and right of the screen.

P.P.S.  It's very dependent on what apps are running.  Sound apps
generally kill it (even accessing sound from a little Python program
that I wrote).

P.P.P.S.  The program gradually grows in memory size while it's hung.
Ubuntu doesn't have reasonable memory limits set, so it ends up bringing
the whole system to it's knees a couple of hours.
