Public bug reported:

Build Version/Date: Karmic Updated on 7/24
Environment used for testing: Dell XPS 1330

Summary:
After updating on Friday 7/24 my touchpad no longer records taps after login.
This seems strange since tap works during GDM and I was under the impression
that the same driver is used after Gnome starts. However, once I log in, tap
ceases to work on the desktop.

Steps to Reproduce:
1) Boot
2) Login by using touchpad tap to select user in GDM
3) Attempt to select a desktop icon using touchpad tap

Expected result:
All is well

Actual result:
Forced to use hardware buttons to select items on the desktop like it's 1991!
:-)

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
