I am running Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty and I am trying to use a printer shared
by a Windows machine, getting the same error. When looking at
/var/log/cups/error_log, I get the following:

E [30/Jul/2009:07:51:17 +0200] CUPS-Add-Modify-Printer: Unauthorized
E [30/Jul/2009:07:51:37 +0200] CUPS-Add-Modify-Printer: Unauthorized
E [30/Jul/2009:07:54:14 +0200] cupsdAuthorize: Local authentication certificate
not found!
E [30/Jul/2009:07:54:21 +0200] Pause-Printer: Unauthorized
E [30/Jul/2009:08:04:45 +0200] CUPS-Add-Modify-Printer: Unauthorized
E [30/Jul/2009:08:09:58 +0200] CUPS-Add-Modify-Printer: Unauthorized

Using the authentication hint, I tried to sudo the system-config-printer
command, but it made no difference, still the same problem.

The funny thing is that I can do this same thing in other Jaunty
machines I am using, so it is not consistent, it fails for most, but
works for a few.

Thanks!
