So I'm still getting the crash with the new code. I tried to pin down the exact crash using g_assert & g_warning statements, but wasn't successful.
So, one question I have, is how do I easily create a debug version of this code? I tried adding: DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS="debug nostrip nooopt" to the debian/rules, but the resultant binary doesn't appear to have any symbols?
