Diego, I really like your approach of treating exit code 8 as success. Do you think that you could produce a patch for the postrm maintainer scripts of both rsyslogd and sysklogd (the same problem happens when people try to migrate from other syslog substitutes to sysklogd)? If yes, then please attach them both to this bug report and I can point the right people to this bug to merge your patches.
