Public bug reported: During boot of Jaunty (Started with Interepid), I noticed my router light will sit and blink ('twinkle') like high traffic.
When I get inside of Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Xubuntu Jaunty (Again it started in Intrepid, Hardy worked fine), I have to sudo rmmod e1000e, then modprobe e1000e again to get my connection back up. Here is the message from dmesg once the e1000e module is probed. 69.640253] e1000e 0000:00:19.0: irq 2302 for MSI/MSI-X [ 69.696065] e1000e 0000:00:19.0: irq 2302 for MSI/MSI-X [ 69.696394] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready [ 71.204766] 0000:00:19.0: eth0: Link is Up 100 Mbps Full Duplex, Flow Control: RX/TX [ 71.204770] 0000:00:19.0: eth0: 10/100 speed: disabling TSO [ 71.205004] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth0: link becomes ready [ 81.260018] eth0: no IPv6 routers present [ 148.614239] e1000e 0000:00:19.0: PCI INT A disabled [ 157.031912] e100: Intel(R) PRO/100 Network Driver, 3.5.23-k6-NAPI [ 157.031917] e100: Copyright(c) 1999-2006 Intel Corporation [ 216.223834] Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Driver - version 7.3.21-k3-NAPI [ 216.223838] Copyright (c) 1999-2006 Intel Corporation. (rmmod e1000e, modprobe e1000e). Even then sometimes I have to do it a few times for it to actually come back on. Nothing of this sort has happened in Hardy, or Windows XP. I have noticed this also happens in Fedora 10's Live disk. (I have tried both installing and downloading the restricted modules for Ubuntu Jaunty with the same results (after restart also)). ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- e1000e module not working properly for NIC https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/408351 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
