Has anyone found a cure for this problem. My Dell Precision M4300 (nVidia) also cannot hold Visual Effects in Extra. It always goes back to None when I reboot. I always have to manual enable it again.
I also run Compiz, but I even turned this off to see the effects and it was the same thing.
