I am out of town, but when I get home I'll run 'apport-collect -p linux' and verify against the -5 kernel.
** Description changed: - Binary package hint: pulseaudio - I can't tell if this is a duplicate or not, but yesterday running an up to date Jaunty everything was fine, then I upgraded to Karmic (via update-manager -d), rebooted and there is no sound. I tried unmuting things with alsamixer and the gnome mixer, stopping and starting pulseaudio, removing ~/.pulse but nothing worked. :( I'm not sure where to go from here as I don't know the sound stack very well.
