I upgraded a few days ago to jaunty 9.04 on a Pentium D based box. Today I realised that the fan was making noises without doing any work (no open windows etc...) Opening the system monitor showed an almost constant load of 60% for both CPUs. Looking with top for possible culprits didn't give consistent hints though the activity was higher than expected. Googling about similar simptoms brought me to this bug and after various inconclusive attempts to cure the misbehaviour I gave the command killall vino-server and oh miracle the load immediately dropped to near 0 for both CPUs ... I^m still puzzled on what this vino-server has to do with my installation then I never heard before of such a service...
