I unistalled and reinstalled in synaptic as per your kind suggestion. I got this message, which I get each time I do upgrades: E: ttf-mscorefonts-installer: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 E: msttcorefonts: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured I assume future upgrades or next distribution will sort it out as I have no idea how to fix it.
