I have a similar problem with my laptop screen - it only appears to allow resolutions 1280x800 and 1024x768, though 915resolution shows far more. I think the problem is fundamentally determined by the resolution of the laptop screen (mine is a wider screen that prefers these wide screen resolutions). Nonetheless, it seems that the other resolutions should be available. Have you had any success in figuring this out?
