Steps to reproduce: 1) Start Cheese 2) File -> Video 3) Start Recording At this point, the video display goes black. 4) Click Stop Recording At this point, the GUI freezes with the Stop Recording button pushed down. 5) Force-quit cheese 6) Restart cheese At this point, cheese reports no video camera found. There is a 0-byte ogv file with a date and time from ~step 3. Expected: A video file is created, the application doesn't hang, the camera is still usable afterwards.
