I apologize for the ambiguity and that command I suggested should be typed directly into the terminal. I am not sure how your system is set up, but this trick should help for those who have problems with hardware acceleration for their graphics card. So, if Blender is a crucial part of your system, I would be cautious before upgrading again. You could try running it from a live CD!
