I am using Acer TravelMate 2300 I also have the same problems, my laptop just spin the cooling fan at low speed, even I ran heavy load in applications such as netbeans. At idle, my temperature reading was 55-57 Celsius degree, slightly higher if I compare it with Windows XP (about 45-50 Celsius degree in idle).
