Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: bluez-gnome

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:    Ubuntu karmic (development branch)
Release:        9.10

$ apt-cache policy bluez-gnome
bluez-gnome:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 1.8-1ubuntu1
  Version table:
     1.8-1ubuntu1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/universe Packages

bluetooth should detect adapter status correctly, wifi toggling should
not freeze the system.

Steps to reproduce:
With bluetooth enabled, disable, adapter goes down, status icon shows x, says
disabled. OK
With bluetooth disabled, enable using gui, adapter goes up, status icon still
shows x, says unkown. NOT OK
While in "unknown" but functional status, use fn-f2 "rfkill" hotkey. OK
full system freeze, blank screen, only cursor shows, alt REISUB does nothing,
only holding power. NOT OK

bluetooth status when adapter is re-enabled is borked.

toggling rfkill while adapter is in borked state halts the system.

please advise how to assist.
