Marc, you are probably right that this is a better time to get this bug
fixed than after the release has been made. Your suggestion to try this
in a VM is not workable (I think) because the problem lies with specific
hardware support. I doubt that there is any VM that virtualizes the
cle266 graphics hardware.

So to try this I would need to find some time when the frontend is not
in use (which is not all that easy). I will try to do so in the near
future.

Do you advise to try this on the latest released version (9.04) or on
the currently developed one (9.10). Does this make a difference, e.g.
when trying to get patches in?
