tag Karmic Synaptics trackpad I am trying out Karmic on this laptop an thought it best to report my findings.
The good news is that the keyboard now seems to work after resuming from a suspend, along with wireless networking. The bad news is that the touchpad doesn't work. But ... Following on from earlier episodes in this bug report, I thought I'd try and run the laptop with kernel switch i8042.reset. This has had the effect of also bringing the touchpad back to life after a resume. I have attached some files for your delectation. I would appreciate knowing more about this switch. Would I cause any problems by including this switch by default in my bootloader? This is the first time I will have submitted a Launchpad entry by email. Fingers crossed I get it all right. I hope this has been of some help. -- Must go, things to be, people to do, stuff to, err, stuff.
