I installed ubuntu9.04 (fresh install). I got a nice splashscreen when
using the live-cd. After installing and booting-up, there was no splash-
screen (the monitor showed me again Vf= 86.7, Hf=46.4K indicating that
something was wrong. So I did the same trick as I found before. I
installed startup-manager, set my screen-reolution to 1280*1024, booted
up - no splashscreen, as expected. Then I specified 640*480, booted up
and I got the splashscreen ... It's of course a pity to have the
splashscreen in the ugly 640*480-resolution in stead of the right
1280*1024-resolution. I read that 9.10 will boot with a new kind of
splashscreen. I hope that the new software will be able to cope with my
monitor :-)
