This bug is NOT fixed. The mplayerplug-in (3.55-2ubuntu1) is ONLY for
Karmic (the future 9.10) so Ubuntu 9.04 has the bug yet!
Please, compile the mplayerplug-in (3.55-2ubuntu1) for Jaunty...
