This problem is fixed with the recent 0.124.9ubuntu1 upload.
If you are affected, please open a terminal window (e.g. gnome terminal from
applicatons/accessories) and
type:
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install update-manager
Check that version 0.124.9ubuntu1 is getting installed (or a later version) and
then update-manager
should work again.
