I would like to gather a bit more data on this. Can you attach the
output of "sudo fdisk -l /dev/sdb" (given sdb is the iPod)? In general,
I see unsuccessful mounts of the first partition, which might not be the
one containing the data (thus the question for the fdisk data). And you
might verify directly whether "sudo mount /dev/sdb2 /mnt" works and
yields the data under /mnt.
