Michael: maybe this will help?

Crashing now when there is 1 pinned/held package, a few packages with
deps that aren't in repos yet, and 1 package that can actually be
updated. script output of update-manager run with errors, and apt-get
upgrade successfully dealing with things.

update-manager is reporting a version level back from what is installed.
If any other output would be useful - yell. :)
