I just found that when I successfully resume (compositing off) two applications (widgets) are no longer running: kmix and knetworkmanager. They can easily be restarted manually. However, this should be ironed out before release.
I am not sure if this is related to the behavior described here or if this should be a new bug. Anyone with an insight let me know.
