I too have just found my Jaunty box with the "Power Down" message displayed on the monitor from 9 hours previously and the PC still powered up. It wouldn't respond to anything, I had to hold the power button down to get it to switch off.
I have seen this several times before with Jaunty. I believe it only happens if, on shutdown, it detects that programs are running and comes up with a dialog box about wait or log off anyway, which happened last night. I cannot recall ever having it not power down without this message occuring.
