Alexander--Before I opened Firefox 1.5.0.9 on my
desktop in safe mode, I uninstalled
MediaPlayerConnectivity from the extensions dialog.
This solved the problem, for I was then able to
attach, send, and receive jpg attachments. I also ran
Firefox in safe-mode and got the same good result.
Curiously, although MediaPlayerConnectivity is still
installed in my laptop, the laptop will attach, send,
and receive jpg attachments. Both machines run firefox
1.5.0.9 and Ubuntu 6.06, though, of course, there are
other hardware/software differences beyond my
understanding.

Thanks a lot for your help and work for Ubuntu!
