It seems System Monitor crashes whenever we try to kill or end a process
that will not respond to the command. I reproduced it with gpsd on
Ubuntu 9.10 alpha 5, updated on 09/09/09.

Try the following :
If you kill or end the application through System Monitor, it will crash System
Monitor. However, the application will still be running.

If you try to kill the application using the command line "kill", the
application will continue to run anyway.

So it seems related to a case where System Monitor doesn't handle
correctly the error sent when an application can't be killed or ended.
When this situation happens, System Monitor should not crash and, in the
best case, should tell the user it wasn't able to kill or end the
application correctly.
