I have confirmed that this is still an issue with Ubuntu 9.04.

Found Sound Preferences, when selecting a custom sound file, single
clicking the sound file (without pushing the Open button) will cause the
sound to "preview" play. Some of my .wav files play, others do not. Once
selected, the sound files also do not play.

Meanwhile ALL of the .wav files play properly in gnome-sound-recorder.

For example, the Willy Wonka login.wav I attached some time ago to this
report played in Ubuntu 8.04, will not play in 9.04.

Is there some sort of error log that the Sound Preferences makes that
might have captured what it thinks is wrong with some .wav files?
/var/log/messages and /var/log/syslog do not seem to be getting logged
to.
