Public bug reported:

This is a f*c*ing nightmare bug!!! This post is for all users who had
this problem and tried to solve it on their own ;)

Preview: I have a laptop computer HP Compaq nx6325 (owners know ;) )

Step 1: Power up my pc, boot in Ubuntu 9.04.(2.6.28-15), headphones
jack IS NOT plugged in, in hear the login sound in pc speakers. Start
rhythmbox player, play a song, works fine. !! NOW, when i plug in my
headphones sound hearing from them but still hearing from pc speakers
too !! No possible mixer setting or else would make pc speakers shut
down, only the mute setting which mutes all sound.

Step 2: Reboot, boot in Ubuntu 9.04.(2.6.28-15), headphones jack IS
plugged in this time, i hear the login sound in my headphones and this
time not in pc speakers (which is good). Start rhythmbox player, play a
song, it hears from headphones (from speakers hears nothing). So far so
good. !! I've plugged out the headphones but nothing happened, no sound
from speakers as expected... :-s !! Again, no mixer setting or else
would make pc speakers turn on, nothing at all.

NOTE: I'VE TRIED ANY POSSIBLE DEBUGING: MIXER SETTING, INSTALLING NEW
ALSA DRIVERS, NOOB ADVICES, ALL. NOTING WORKED.

ATTENTION: The following fix was tested by me only on my laptop so far,
so if you want this to work for you too you must make the required
adjustments. You can consider this link as a good help:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=806620 (didn't worked for me..
:( )

Fix : After long time browsing the web i've finally found the solution.

 - browse into file system to /etc/modprobe.d/ like this: "cd /etc/modprobe.d/"
 - then : "ls" -> you should have "alsa-base.conf" file there
 - next do: "sudo gedit alsa-base.conf" and you will have write access now to
that file.
 - go to the bottom of the file and add the following line: "options
snd-hda-intel model=hp position_fix=1 enable=yes"
 - save the file.
 - reboot your pc

Now, you may choose to boot Ubuntu with or without the headphones
plugged in, when you'll plug in/out the headphones speakers will work as
they should.
