It'd be nice to edit the last post, but it seems I missed the fact theres the drivers/usb/storage/ and drivers/usb/wusbcore/ that is the more likely candidate for why usbcore.ko is no longer needed . For that reason I guess the patch would be harder to track, but might not need recompiling at the same time.
