I'm running latest Karmic. Did an upgrade last week and all was well.

Upgraded today and I get a blank screen.

I booted from CD and took our 'quiet splash' from /etc/default/grub, ran
update-grub and rebooted.

Boot process completes and it appears as soon as the desktop starts the
screen goes black.

Someone please post the key sequence I can hit during boot to start a
command line shell, rather than start a desktop.

Thanks.
