Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

With the latest pulseaudio update (pulseaudio -
1:0.9.17-0ubuntu2~ubuntuaudiodev1) from Audio Dev team PPA I'm
experiencing the following (weird) problem.

In order to have any audio output from the built in speakers I must plug
in the headphones.

Sound Preferences > Output > Connector is correctly set to "Analog
Output".

If I switch it to "Analog Headphones" I have sound through the
headphones (as it should be) - but if I set the option to "Analog
Output" without having the headphones plugged in I have no sound at all.

I'm using Karmic on a HP laptop (model DV9850EL)

"cat /proc/asound/cards" returns the following message:

 0 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel
HDA Intel at 0xf8400000 irq 22

Is there anything else I need to attach in order to help?

Thanks in advance
