Comments #20 and #21 imply (I'm happy to be corrected) that implementing this feature would fix several outstanding bugs. So whilst you may consider this to be a wishlist/feature request, please bear in mind that it's also a fix to several bugs which have the common theme that Inkscape does not handle end-of-line markers the way some users expect it should.
