Well I was the original person who introduced the hardcoded Java
preferences, I'm afraid to say. The original motivation was that the
default Java was a GNU based Java which clearly did NOT run Azureus in
any appreciably useful manner, so I decided to ignore Java alternatives.

Ideally we should instead work on a whitelist/blacklist type of Java
hunting where we respect the alternatives link if it points to a
hotspot-like Java runtime or fall back to probing if not.
