The major goal for 2.0 is to present packages rather than just applications, yes. However, I don't know how we will show application data (icons, human-friendly application names, categories, and screenshots) for packages in third-party repositories, because they won't be covered by app-install-data or by screenshots.debian.net. So, unless Michael chimes in with "oh, that's easy, we'll do that using _______", probably this should be on the agenda for UDS Lucid.
