Sorry for late answer. The bug is corrected by now so I can't reproduce it. However, I am running a video card: ati 4850hd and that is a r7xx chip I think (I use free radeonhd driver). I could launch awesome (window manager), then kill x and start gnome and it was ok. I just could not launch gnome from gdm when the pc has just been restarted.
So, it seems ok by now, nevermind :) Thanks, Romain. 2009/9/21 Sebastien Bacher <seb...@ubuntu.com>: > Thank you for your bug report, it seems a duplicate of a known ati issue > on r6xx cards, do you get the same crash by starting compiz in a non > GNOME session? > > ** Package changed: gdm (Ubuntu) => gnome-session (Ubuntu) > > ** Changed in: gnome-session (Ubuntu) > Importance: Undecided => Medium > > ** Changed in: gnome-session (Ubuntu) > Status: New => Incomplete > > -- > Gdm fails to start Gnome session > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/432632 > You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber > of the bug. > > Status in “gnome-session” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete > > Bug description: > Gdm cannot load the gnome session.
