Cody and others I do not think that changing only the background of gdm can fix this issue. Gdm is still in the middle of two xplash operations and repeatedly flashing the background does not look so nice. One possible solution could be to have both xsplash and gdm use the same background. Why do they have a bg of their own anyway? Like I said in my previous post, the best-looking solution is that both xsplash and gdm use the same background as x.
